Magenta TV - UEFA EURO 2024™ mit CUBA Playout

Magenta TV - Tackling the broadcast challenges of „UEFA EURO 2024™“ with CUBA Playout

The „UEFA EURO 2024™“ presents a unique set of challenges for broadcasters. Delivering high-quality,  coverage of 51 matches to millions of viewers requires a robust and reliable broadcast infrastructure. The challenge is compounded by the need to deliver seamless, high-definition streams with the highest level of reliability.

To meet these requirements, CUBA Playout - a highly integrated broadcast automation and video playout solution - was brought in to provide its expertise for Deutsche Telekom AG and their public streaming service MagentaTV. This advanced solution was key to the successful broadcast of the „UEFA EURO 2024™“.

PLAZAMEDIA has decided to source the CUBA Playout through Cerberus, driven by years of trust in Cerberus' quality and reliability. As part of the project, Cerberus supported PLAZAMEDIA in establishing a modern playout and broadcast infrastructure based on CUBA’s technology designed to meet the demands of such a high-profile event.

PLAZAMEDIA and Deutsche Telekom AG trusted CUBA Playout because of the system's exceptional features and stability, as well as the good experience they have had with CUBA Playout over the past few years.

This collaboration enabled the broadcast of 51 matches, totaling 187.5 hours in the preliminary round and a further 111 hours in the knockout phase, to audiences across Germany. The streams were delivered in both HD-SDR and UHD-HDR, ensuring exceptional picture quality.

The project infrastructure included 14 video servers:

  • 6 dedicated playout servers,
  • 6 graphics insertion servers for HD and UHD branding
  • 2 multi-graphics insertion servers for covering four channels of HD branding.

This setup ensured that every element of the broadcast, from live video to on-screen graphics, was handled with precision and reliability.

The implementation of CUBA Playout during „UEFA EURO 2024™“  highlights the evolving landscape of sports broadcasting. As technology and innovation continue to advance, the standards set by this collaboration are likely to shape future broadcasts and ensure that fans remain at the center of the action.
